NOVICA, in association with National Geographic, works together with talented artisan designers around the world to produce stunning, keepsake treasures. Our mantra is to spread global happiness, so rest assured - we’ll do everything we possibly can to ensure you’re a happy customer. About this item: Kwaku Ofosuhene Apenteng designs an original mask for the harvest festival. "This mask tells about the fertility of the land as antelopes are symbols of agricultural festivities, " explains the Ghanaian artisan. He carves and paints the sese wood mask by hand featuring the image of an antelope on the forehead. About our Artist: I studied business and worked for many years in the field, but I wasn't satisfied. In 1984 I was introduced to the carving profession by my cousin who was a carver and also a professional teacher. He taught me how to carve for about a year, which seemed to come naturally to me. I then started a full-time professional carving career late in 1985. I have been carving on my own ever since. I also learned how to decorate my works with brass and beads, making them unique.
